Engineering Manager

Location: Remote, but candidates must have existing right to work in the UK. Core hours are required for collaboration and calls; in-person company gatherings take place twice a year.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams in a fast-scaling environment.
• Own planning, prioritization, execution, delivery quality, and risk management.
• Guide system design, architecture, scalability, performance, and technical trade-offs.
• Promote high standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, and reliability.
• Partner with Product, DevOps, ML, and engineering leaders to translate goals into execution plans.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, feedback, coaching, and performance management.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in engineering management or a tech lead role.
• Strong backend experience with PHP, Python, Go, Rust, or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, system design, performance, and scalability.
• Experience delivering complex technical projects end to end and applying CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and monitoring.
• Strong people leadership, communication, autonomy, and remote collaboration skills.
• Existing right to work in the UK is required; UK visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-scale platforms, infrastructure, or developer-facing APIs.
• Exposure to AI/ML platforms, inference systems, or performance-critical workloads.
• Experience in fast-growing startups or scale-ups.
