Principal Electrical Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information; candidates must be U.S. persons or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Base salary: $175,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead Design-for-Excellence reviews across PCBs, PCBAs, machined components, tooling, and higher-level assemblies.
• Develop manufacturing systems for spacecraft electronics, including PCBA integration, wire harnessing, and electromechanical subassemblies.
• Build prototypes, define subassembly build flows, and transition processes from first-article builds to high-rate production.
• Set manufacturing policies, standards, and best practices while identifying and mitigating process, quality, and manufacturability risks.
• Plan tooling, capacity investments, and manufacturing strategies for future spacecraft programs.
• Create automation, custom tools, MES software, and data-driven processes that improve manufacturing engineering efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical, aerospace, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in high-volume, rapid-production manufacturing, integration, or design engineering.
• Strong knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, J-STD-001, IPC-CC-830, and NASA-STD-8739.1.
• Experience with DFX, GD&T, mechanical assembly drawings, conformal coating, PCBA inspection, wire harness manufacturing, and electromechanical integration.
• Experience developing production processes, manufacturing policy, automation, MES foundations, procedures, templates, and non-conformance documentation.
• Deep experience with CAD software such as NX or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Tooling design experience for electromechanical subassemblies and electronics.
• Experience with aerospace soldering, torque, and quality assurance standards.
• Familiarity with Python, SQL, or manufacturing-data automation platforms.
