TL;DR
Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (Advanced Manufacturing/Industrial Automation): Researching, developing, testing, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies to optimize production processes and develop new products with an accent on robotics, automation, controls, and manufacturing readiness. Focus on planning technology projects through production implementation, applying TRL and MRL frameworks, and improving throughput, product quality, and process variation across cross-functional engineering teams.
Location: Onsite in Buffalo, NY, with the role based at the East Aurora, NY site. First-shift schedule; travel may be required for technology research, development, implementation, and testing. Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required.
Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually

What you will do
- Research, develop, test, and implement advanced manufacturing technologies across products and production processes.
- Plan, manage, and report on advanced manufacturing projects from early development through production implementation.
- Apply Technology Readiness Level and Manufacturing Readiness Level frameworks to project planning and execution.
- Coordinate technical requirements with internal teams, external collaborators, suppliers, universities, and manufacturing research organizations.
- Identify and prioritize manufacturing initiatives that improve throughput, product quality, and process variation.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional matrix organization with project, mechanical, electrical, robotics, controls, software, operations, and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field; mechanical, electrical, software/computer, or industrial engineering preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial robotics, industrial automation and control systems, or industrial engineering. Focused research, internships, and co-op experience may be considered.
- Fundamental knowledge of TRL and MRL concepts and frameworks.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within deadlines.
- Ability to work onsite in the Buffalo/East Aurora, New York area and access U.S. export-controlled information.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of manufacturing, mechanical, software, electronics, and electromechanical systems.
- Experience with industrial lasers, optics, metrology systems, programming, CAD, or Siemens NX.
- Experience with Ignition, Fanuc, or Rockwell Automation.
- Knowledge of AI applications in engineering and manufacturing.
- Strong communication skills and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
