Senior Information Architect / UX Lead

Location: Remote across Canada; potential travel within Canada

Salary: CAD $75–$95 per hour contract rate

What you will do

• Lead information architecture strategy across a complex multi-site and multi-brand public web ecosystem.
• Redesign navigation structures, taxonomies, content hierarchies, metadata, and site structures to improve usability and findability.
• Map user journeys, identify friction points, and recommend simpler, more intuitive experiences.
• Facilitate stakeholder and user discovery workshops and translate findings into actionable IA recommendations and experience principles.
• Collaborate with content strategists, UX/UI designers, technical architects, and CMS specialists on content models, reusable components, design systems, and implementation.
• Contribute to major website redesigns, CMS re-platforming, digital modernization, accessibility, and inclusive design initiatives.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in UX, information architecture, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience personally leading IA for large, content-rich websites with hundreds or thousands of pages across multi-site or multi-brand ecosystems.
• Experience with large-scale website redesigns, CMS re-platforming, or digital modernization initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of taxonomy design, navigation, content hierarchy, metadata, content modeling, user journey mapping, and stakeholder facilitation.
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Ability to provide 2–3 relevant projects describing the role, scale, number of sites or pages, and CMS or platform used.

• Experience in government, public sector, higher education, financial services, or similarly complex organizations.
• Experience modernizing a large government or public-sector web ecosystem involving multiple websites or brands.
