TL;DR
Electrical Assembly Technician (Avionics) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Assemble and integrate circuit card assemblies, avionics units, wire harnesses, and electrical test equipment with an accent on high-reliability soldering, crimping, SMT operations, and board-level repair. Focus on interpreting engineering documentation, troubleshooting avionics products, meeting IPC and government specifications, and maintaining ESD and traceability standards.

Location: Onsite in Phoenix, AZ; the role description also references Gilbert, AZ

Salary: $35.00–$42.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Assemble circuit card assemblies, top-level avionics units, wire harnesses, and electrical ground support and test equipment.
  • Perform high-reliability through-hole and surface-mount soldering, crimping, board-level repairs, and jumper wire installations.
  • Set up and operate SMT pick-and-place and selective solder machines.
  • Integrate circuit card assemblies into avionics units and perform staking and coating operations.
  • Interpret assembly drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions while maintaining ESD controls and traceability documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineering to troubleshoot and rework avionics products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent formal training.
  • 8+ years of hands-on electrical assembly and soldering experience.
  • Expertise in crimping, medical device assembly, board-level repair, and electronic units.
  • Familiarity with J-STD-001 and Space Addendum, IPC-610/620 standards, and torque and crimping tools.
  • Ability to work onsite in Arizona and access U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

  • NASA soldering certification.
  • Experience with avionics components, circuit card rework, coating, and installation.
  • Ability to read and work directly from engineering drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
