Drainage Design Engineer

Location: Austin, Texas; hybrid work between office and field environments

What you will do

• Prepare and review drainage design plans, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and technical reports for roadway, bridge, and culvert projects.
• Develop stormwater conveyance, culvert, channel, storm sewer, and detention facility designs.
• Apply drainage standards, criteria, and transportation agency guidelines to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage component sizing, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.
• Coordinate drainage requirements with roadway, structural, environmental, client, and reviewing agency stakeholders.
• Support quality assurance reviews, resolve design comments, and provide technical assistance during plan reviews and field questions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 5–10+ years of transportation drainage experience with TxDOT projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proficiency with MicroStation ORD, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
• Ability to work in office and field environments, including occasional exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water.
• Ability to perform the stated physical duties and occasionally operate a company vehicle or lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds.
