Senior Accountant (SaaS)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; required to work in the San Jose office at least 3 days per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Base pay: $119,000–$161,000 per year, excluding additional compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, accruals, OPEX allocations, and financial statement schedules.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and accounting workpapers in NetSuite, ensuring accurate balances and audit-ready documentation.
• Account for internal-use software development costs under ASC 350-40, commissions and contract acquisition costs under ASC 340-40, and leases under ASC 842.
• Manage sales tax compliance, corporate credit card reconciliations, allocation methodologies, and related supporting schedules.
• Support internal controls and SOX objectives, prepare audit materials, and respond to external auditor requests.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, People Operations, the Accounting Manager, and the Director of Revenue on accounting matters, special projects, process improvement, and automation.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with the monthly financial close cycle.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to independently build and maintain detailed workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, including researching technical accounting issues and documenting conclusions.
• Superior organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
• Experience in the SaaS or software industry, including familiarity with subscription revenue models and related accounting nuances.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a continual improvement mindset.

Nice to have

• Public company or public accounting experience, including Big 4 or regional firm experience.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience with general ledger, financial reporting, and related modules.
• Experience using AI tools such as hirify.global Transform, Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable platforms for research, drafting, analysis, or workflow automation.
• FP&A collaboration experience, including cost center reporting and budget-to-actual variance analysis.
• Experience using hirify.global’s close management and reconciliation platform.
• Experience with Workiva, InScope, Donnelley Financial Solutions, or comparable external financial reporting tools.
• CPA license or active CPA candidacy.
• Experience with ASC 606, ASC 718, SOX compliance, ERP implementation, or system migration projects involving data validation and UAT support.
