Sr. Software Development Engineer, Kiro (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington, USA

Salary: $168,100–$227,400 USD annually, plus sign-on payments and restricted stock units.

Amazon Web Services is a cloud platform building Kiro, an AI coding agent for end-to-end software development workflows.

What you will do

• Build and ship features for Kiro, including intelligent model routing and project-aware context systems.
• Orchestrate AI workflows across dozens of models and launch new models rapidly.
• Design and develop distributed systems, real-time streaming capabilities, and scalable AI infrastructure.
• Own critical systems and define technical direction for new product capabilities.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and security to AWS standards.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to how the team operates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional, non-internship software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including reliability and scaling.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
• 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
