Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: United States — Seattle, Washington, or Portland, Oregon

Salary: $143,700–$194,400 annually, plus sign-on payments and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Shape the technical direction and architecture of Kiro Crew autonomous agent systems.
• Design agent orchestration, memory, context-management, and learning capabilities.
• Build, deploy, and operate scalable production software using CI/CD practices.
• Translate customer development challenges into product capabilities.
• Balance innovation with reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to open-source community engagement and scalable deployment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of system design or architecture experience, including reliability and scaling.
• Experience developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Experience with object-oriented design and at least one programming language.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience with software development lifecycle practices, including code reviews, source control, testing, and operations.
