Location: Shrewsbury, United Kingdom; full-time onsite at the Shrewsbury facility. Shift work may be required.
Salary: Starting from £49,519 per year, depending on experience, plus up to 10% bonus.

manufactures construction and mining equipment, off-highway engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. Defense in Shrewsbury designs, develops, integrates, and remanufactures engine, drivetrain, and transmission systems for military products.
What you will do
- Manage the production schedule, production team, workload priorities, and overall performance of a designated value stream.
- Monitor shop-floor safety, eliminate unsafe operations, and maintain a safe and clean production environment.
- Coordinate fixtures, tooling, methods, parts, materials, overtime, and resources to meet production requirements.
- Improve efficiency, timeliness, and cost by eliminating non-value-added activities and implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, CQMS, and ISO initiatives.
- Ensure product quality and compliance with 's Quality Policy while managing cost and delivery targets.
- Lead staff training and development, performance management, personnel planning, recruitment, and RCCA meetings using tools such as Fishbone diagrams and Stop to FiX.
Requirements
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment and mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of Lean processes and tools, data gathering and analysis, performance management, planning, decision-making, and root-cause problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building effective relationships across and outside the department.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize people and resources methodically.
- Experience in engine or transmission assembly, hot testing of large assemblies, or traditional and CNC machining centres is highly relevant.
