Staff Embedded Security Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; hybrid

Salary: $276,100–$311,400 per year, plus an equity package

What you will do

• Design and develop real-time embedded firmware and embedded Linux software implementing security controls.
• Contribute to technical requirements, system architecture, interface designs, specifications, and test plans.
• Partner with the Security team and developers across the organization to identify vehicle-fleet security issues and promote secure software architectures.
• Build, deploy, and maintain security tools, libraries, controls, and instrumentation.
• Perform code and design reviews to identify and remediate security flaws.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and delivering software security systems for internet-connected embedded devices.
• Experience integrating hardware-based security techniques such as Hardware Security Modules, TrustZone, and Secure Boot.
• Strong knowledge of cryptography fundamentals and Public Key Infrastructure.
• Extensive experience producing technical specifications from system architecture through implementation guides and test plans.
• System-level kernel or bootloader development experience.
• Significant experience with at least one of Python, C++, C, or Go, plus strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with QNX or similar real-time operating systems.
• Experience with Azure, GCP, containers, secrets management, threat modeling, and contemporary security practices.
• Contributions to the security community through open source, research, presentations, or technical writing.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
