Senior Applied AI Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid office position with designated Tech Market locations in New York City, Louisville, KY, and Dallas, TX

Salary: $141,100–$194,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan

What you will do

• Develop production-grade AI agents and generative AI applications for healthcare.
• Build agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, tool-use workflows, and personalized assistance experiences.
• Design secure, scalable AI services using Python APIs, modern web integration, and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Semantic Kernel.
• Improve AI quality through prompt and context optimization, evaluation frameworks, safety guardrails, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop validation.
• Design, deploy, and maintain autonomous or semi-autonomous agents with tool invocation, memory, workflow orchestration, and multi-step reasoning.
• Partner with product, clinical, data, and compliance teams to deliver measurable value in HIPAA-compliant environments.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including advanced Python development and scalable production-grade full-stack applications.
• At least 3 years of experience building user-facing applications with React, Vue, Solid, or Angular, including responsive, accessible, API-integrated interfaces.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production systems using AI SDKs, orchestration frameworks, and agentic architectures.
• Experience with prompt engineering, model selection, context management, RAG, embeddings-based retrieval, AI agents, multi-agent workflows, and conversational interfaces.
• Experience with AI testing, evaluation, observability, reliability, fallback strategies, safety guardrails, latency optimization, and rate-limit management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline with 5 years of relevant experience, or a similar master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

Nice to have

• Ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with product managers, designers, clinicians, and compliance specialists.
• Experience in regulated or high-accountability environments such as healthcare, finance, or government.
• Experience in healthcare industries.
