Staff Cloud Software Engineer – Edge, CDN & WAF

Salary: $188,500–$255,000 base pay annually

What you will do

• Build a CDN/WAF paved road that automates onboarding of public endpoints to Akamai and recommends optimized edge configurations.
• Engineer and tune Akamai and AWS WAF security policies, bot management, client reputation, and rate controls while managing false-positive and blast-radius risks.
• Design and support self-service applications, REST APIs, and UIs for edge, DNS, and certificate workflows.
• Own DNS, SSL/TLS and mTLS certificate lifecycles, CDN connectivity, and related network services.
• Troubleshoot packet paths across CDN origins, DNS, TLS, Transit Gateway, and cloud networks; automate compliance, cost control, and performance tuning.
• Provide 24x7 incident response, partner with vendors and development teams, and mentor engineers on reliable agentic automation.

Requirements

• Staff-level software engineering experience with ownership of technical vision across multiple teams.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Akamai Property Manager/Ion, Kona, App & API Protector, Bot Manager, Client Reputation, CPS, EdgeWorkers, SiteShield, and PAPI/{OPEN} APIs.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/2, DNS, SSL/TLS, mTLS, CDN routing, VPN, AWS Transit Gateway/VPC routing, BGP, and SSH.
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, React, Java, REST APIs, UIs, and MSaaS services.
• Experience with AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, CodeBuild, Jenkins, and GitOps.
• Fluent AI agent development and orchestration skills are required, including building agentic/self-service tooling and reviewing AI-generated output to a peer-code quality standard.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Google GCP and Microsoft Azure.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent work-related experience.
