TL;DR
Design Release Engineering Senior Analyst – Thermal and Cabin Comfort (Automotive Thermal Systems): Supporting the release and production execution of HVAC, cabin comfort, and related thermal components with an accent on engineering documentation, validation, supplier coordination, and issue resolution. Focus on analyzing test and supplier data, supporting root cause investigations, and aligning design releases with quality, cost, timing, regulatory, and customer comfort targets.
Location: São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo, Brazil; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office. Travel of less than 25% is required. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship or relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Support the release of HVAC and thermal components throughout the product development cycle.
- Prepare and maintain requirements, bills of materials, release records, drawings, specifications, and change notices.
- Assist with validation plans and analyze test, build, and supplier data to support engineering decisions.
- Coordinate quality, manufacturing, validation, purchasing, supplier, vehicle integration, and program stakeholders on issues and timing.
- Participate in DFMEA, DVP, design reviews, lessons learned, prototype builds, and launch support.
- Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, issue tracking, and basic containment activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive, or a related engineering field.
- Experience or a strong internship or co-op background in product engineering, design release, component development, or vehicle and system integration.
- Foundational knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, materials, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacturing concepts.
- Experience with CAD and/or product lifecycle or engineering release systems.
- Ability to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams to track issues, data, and timing commitments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Exposure to automotive thermal systems, HVAC, cabin comfort, or vehicle climate performance.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, or PPAP concepts.
- Understanding of defogging, defrosting, airflow, and cabin comfort metrics.
- Exposure to HVAC modules, heat exchangers, ducts, blowers, refrigerant systems, sensors, or actuators.
- Experience with Excel, scripting, or basic data visualization for engineering analysis.
