Staff Software Engineer (Platform/DevOps)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must live in an approved U.S. location by their first day. Hiring is available from anywhere in the U.S. except Washington, D.C. and Hawaii. Compensation-based restrictions may apply in California, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Washington. Colorado employees may work remotely anywhere in the state, from the downtown Denver office, or in a hybrid arrangement.

Salary: $160,000–$208,000 annual base salary, depending on relevant experience, plus eligibility for a variable annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead DevOps transformation through CI/CD design, Kubernetes orchestration, and reliable cloud infrastructure patterns.
• Architect secure infrastructure with secrets management, least-privilege IAM, vulnerability scanning, and compliance guardrails.
• Own platform reliability by defining SLOs and SLAs, leading incident response, and improving MTTD and MTTR through observability and automation.
• Design reusable Terraform or Pulumi infrastructure modules and address systemic technical debt through incremental initiatives.
• Set platform architecture direction across multiple teams, manage dependencies and risks, and optimize cloud reliability, cost, and performance.
• Mentor senior engineers, guide architecture and code quality, support organizational adoption, and recruit high-performing engineers.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps.
• Deep Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
• Strong Kubernetes and Docker experience, plus CI/CD pipeline design using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Cloud architecture, IAM, and cost-optimization experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with observability tools such as Sumo, Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus and with improving uptime, MTTD, and MTTR.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Go, or Bash; security-conscious infrastructure design; production reliability ownership; and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure considerations.
• Experience driving cross-functional technical initiatives and organizational adoption.
