International Programs Analyst

Location: Full-time onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia; remote and hybrid work are not permitted.

Salary: $99,300–$144,100 USD per year.

What you will do

• Prepare briefing materials, talking points, read-ahead documents, presentations, issue papers, correspondence, and trip books for senior defense officials.
• Support NATO High Level Group coordination, including meetings, the High Level View process, and analysis of implementation data.
• Analyze and support modernization of NATO nuclear consultations, command, and control systems.
• Support engagements with NATO Allies and Basing Nations on the safety, security, and survivability of U.S. nuclear weapons deployed in Europe.
• Advise on and administer mutual defense agreements, including the U.S.–UK 1958 Mutual Defense Agreement and AUKUS.
• Develop nuclear accident and incident response policy, organize interagency working groups, analyze exercises, and contribute to reports for Congress and the President.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, national security studies, or a related field; a master’s degree with three years of experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree with six years of experience.
• At least six years of experience supporting SES-level leaders, working with international partners and institutions, conducting negotiations, and handling international or bilateral treaty agreements.
• Experience in the nuclear field, including a basic understanding of deterrence concepts and the U.S. nuclear stockpile.
• Experience working with senior U.S. and foreign government officials and drafting highly classified, technically oriented materials on complex scientific, engineering, and technical topics.
• Excellent writing and editorial skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, and ability to travel within and outside the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Service Staff, U.S. European Command, another U.S. government agency, or NATO.
• Knowledge of nuclear policy, nuclear weapons operations, and international nuclear cooperation programs.
• Exposure to a scientific, engineering, or technical field.
