Senior Counsel

Location: Hybrid in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia; three days per week in the office and two days remote

What you will do

• Provide generalist legal advice on consumer law, regulatory compliance, commercial matters, litigation and investigations, and employment and contractor models.
• Partner with leaders and legal subject-matter experts across the global Legal team.
• Collaborate with operations, strategy, product, partnerships, and policy teams.
• Advise on complex and evolving legal and regulatory issues affecting technology platforms and marketplace businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
• Develop scalable legal processes and frameworks while balancing legal risk with business priorities.

Requirements

• Qualified to practice law in Australia with at least 8+ years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience advising on commercial, consumer, regulatory, and/or litigation matters.
• Strong understanding of Australian consumer, privacy, competition, and commercial law.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize competing demands in a high-volume environment.

Nice to have

• In-house legal experience at a technology company or another fast-paced international company.
