Functional Safety Architect (Automotive)

What you will do

• Define and maintain functional safety concepts for e-drive and transmission systems in line with ISO 26262 and project safety goals.
• Lead HARA, FTA, FMEA/DFMEA, and FMEDA analyses across system, subsystem, ECU, hardware, and software levels.
• Derive, allocate, trace, and verify safety requirements from concept design through validation, industrialization, and release.
• Review system and software architectures to ensure appropriate safety mechanisms, redundancies, and diagnostics.
• Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams to align safety concepts, requirements, evidence, and mitigation plans.
• Act as the technical authority for functional safety, consolidating safety work products and contributing to safety cases and release documentation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in automotive, electrical, systems engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in vehicle system architecture, control systems, or functional safety engineering.
• Strong practical knowledge of functional safety for embedded automotive systems and complex ECUs.
• Solid understanding of ISO 26262 and hands-on experience with HARA, DFMEA, FTA, and FMEDA.
• Experience with SysML/UML architecture modeling and requirements management tools such as Polarion or DOORS.
• Fluent English, spoken and written, is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of IEC 61508, ISO 25119, or EN 5012x.
• Formal functional safety training or ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineer/Professional certification.
• Additional language skills.
