Senior Accountant General Ledger (m/f/x) (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead and reconcile general ledgers for designated entities under German GAAP (HGB).
• Drive monthly and annual financial closing processes and support external audits and tax reviews.
• Ensure data integrity between operational subsystems and the general ledger.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities through targeted accounting controls.
• Manage complex financial instruments, including ABS structures and receivables sales.
• Establish efficient intercompany reconciliation, settlement, and group-wide accounting workflows.

Requirements

• Extensive practical experience in general ledger accounting, preferably in financial services, fintech, or a fast-paced scale-up.
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and experience with complex financial instruments such as ABS structures or receivables sales.
• Degree in business or finance, or qualification as a Certified Senior Accountant / Financial Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter IHK).
• In-depth ERP experience, preferably with SAP S/4HANA, and a structured, analytical, numbers-driven approach.
• German at minimum B2 level and strong professional English proficiency are required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial topics clearly.

Nice to have

• Practical exposure to or knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience collaborating with Product or Tech teams to automate interfaces and financial subsystems.
