Principal Applied AI Scientist (Auth0)

Location: Hybrid role requiring attendance at a local office three times per week in Bellevue, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, or Washington, DC.

Salary: $244,000–$335,500 or $274,000–$376,200 USD annual base salary, depending on work location.

What you will do

• Model and solve authentication and security problems using AI and machine learning.
• Lead end-to-end model development, from selecting the appropriate approach through deployment and iteration.
• Train traditional machine learning models and fine-tune or align small and large language models.
• Create and maintain evaluation and training datasets, workflows, and supporting infrastructure.
• Take ideas from research through prototypes and product recommendations.
• Evaluate solutions across quality, security, latency, and cost.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning or applied research roles.
• Experience leading multiple 0-to-1 AI or ML projects and shipping practical systems.
• Strong Python, machine learning frameworks, and software engineering skills.
• Ability to understand computer systems and apply that knowledge to complex technical problems.
• Strong customer empathy, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work from one of the listed US office locations and attend the local office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building security-related products.
• Experience publishing research papers or open-sourcing results.
