Principal Applied AI/ML Scientist (Auth0 Lab)

Location: Hybrid role requiring attendance at a local office three times per week in Bellevue, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, or Washington, DC, United States.

Annual base salary: $274,000–$376,200 USD for candidates in California outside the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington; a separate range of $244,000–$335,500 USD is also listed.

What you will do

• Model and solve authentication and security problems using AI and machine learning.
• Lead end-to-end model development, including traditional machine learning, language-model fine-tuning, and alignment.
• Create and maintain training and evaluation datasets, workflows, and supporting infrastructure.
• Move ideas from research through prototypes to product recommendations.
• Evaluate models and products across quality, security, latency, and cost.
• Set technical direction for AI innovation and take new product concepts from 0 to 1.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning or applied research roles.
• Multiple 0-to-1 AI or ML projects delivered as practical, shipped systems.
• Strong Python, machine learning frameworks, and software engineering skills.
• Ability to independently define technical direction and work hands-on without a dedicated research organization.
• Strong understanding of computer systems, customer needs, problem discovery, iteration, and collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience building security-related products.
• Experience publishing research or open-sourcing results.
• PhD in a relevant field.
