What you will do

• Cover breaking real estate news, tips, transactions, developments, listings, financing, rentals, and market activity.
• Develop exclusives and original stories through industry sourcing, interviews, public records, and data research.
• Analyze real estate databases, government data, company filings, market reports, and other datasets to identify news and trends.
• Pitch news and feature ideas, including real estate angles in major national stories.
• Write a mix of short-turnaround and longer-lead stories each week.
• Collaborate with editors, photo and art teams, and newsroom colleagues to publish and circulate stories.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of reporting experience covering real estate, housing, business, or related beats.
• A strong record of original published journalism and excellent reporting, interviewing, research, and fact-checking skills.
• Extensive sources in the real estate industry and New York City business community.
• Strong knowledge of New York City neighborhoods, housing, building types, and residential and commercial real estate markets.
• Ability to interpret public records, market data, databases, and research tools.
• Ability to work quickly, manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with editors and newsroom colleagues.
