What you will do

• Cover breaking real estate news and report on tips, people, deals, developments, and market trends.
• Produce exclusive stories through sourcing, original reporting, interviews, and research.
• Track transactions, property listings, development proposals, sales records, rental reports, financing, and other market activity.
• Analyze public records, real estate databases, government data, company filings, market reports, and other datasets.
• Pitch and write a mix of short and longer-lead news and feature stories each week.
• Collaborate with editors, photo and art teams, and newsroom colleagues to publish and circulate stories.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of reporting experience covering real estate, housing, business, or related beats.
• Strong record of original published journalism and excellent reporting, interviewing, research, and fact-checking skills.
• Extensive sources in the real estate industry and New York City business community.
• Knowledge of New York City neighborhoods, housing, building types, and real estate markets.
• Ability to research and interpret real estate databases, public records, market data, and other research tools.
• Ability to work quickly, manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with editors and colleagues.
