Reporter, Payments Dive (Fintech)

Location: Washington, DC, USA; in-person work three days a week or more with flexibility to work from home or remotely at other times.

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience.

What you will do

• Produce daily briefs, web articles, newsletter content, breaking news coverage, enterprise reporting, and in-depth features about the payments industry.
• Cover banking, technology, corporate strategy, agency actions, legislation, earnings reports, press releases, and broader financial and regulatory developments.
• Develop industry knowledge and relationships with business, government, and other sources while identifying original storylines and potential scoops.
• Pitch and execute timely payments coverage and longer-term editorial projects with the Payments Dive team.
• Edit stories and newsletters, collaborate on assignments, attend conferences, and meet with sources.
• Track reader analytics to evaluate story performance and support innovative newsroom projects.

Requirements

• At least three years of writing and reporting experience with a strong track record in a fast-paced news environment.
• Strong writing, reporting, digital news, information-finding, and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to analyze business concepts, financial reports, legal documents, SEC filings, government regulations, and complex payments-industry subjects.
• Ability to build relationships with industry, government, and other sources.
• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in journalism, English, or a related field.
• Availability to work from the Washington, DC office three days a week or more.
