Director of Editorial, Axios Live

Location: Washington, D.C.; remote-optional within the United States

Starting salary: $110,000–$130,000 per year, adjusted based on location, experience, and skills.

hirify.global is a news and media organization producing journalism, live events, executive roundtables, and editorial products across business, policy, and technology.

What you will do

• Oversee concepts, registration pages, web content, social coverage, and post-event recap articles for hirify.global Live.
• Curate balanced, expert participant groups and manage seating strategies for hirify.global Roundtables.
• Lead, coach, and manage a small team of editorial writers and coordinators.
• Coordinate event coverage with reporters and the newsroom, including rapid-turn social reporting and recap writing.
• Manage real-time editorial flow, brief moderators, and make editorial judgments during live events.
• Guide the responsible use of approved AI tools and custom GPTs for research, brainstorming, and list discovery.

Requirements

• 6–8+ years of experience in journalism, editorial editing, live-event content, public policy, or media.
• Proven people-management experience and the ability to review high-volume written work under tight deadlines.
• Strong news judgment and knowledge of policy, business, and technology trends.
• Excellent writing, line-editing, copy-editing, event-framing, and concise recap-writing skills.
• Experience building senior, balanced executive tables and maintaining editorial independence in commercial partnerships.
• Ability to travel for major hirify.global Live events and activations as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience in a fast-paced newsroom or live-news environment.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted research and editing tools.
