What you will do

• Perform basic fire alarm and engineering system calculations with experienced design staff.
• Prepare system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, reports, and project designs.
• Review shop drawings for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Coordinate requirements and scope with clients, architects, and project teams.
• Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
• Research products, industry trends, codes, and evolving technical standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, architectural, or a related engineering field plus one year of relevant experience, or four years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design, A&E industry practices, codes, design guides, and standards.
• Proficiency with engineering design software, Microsoft Office, and preferably Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong technical aptitude, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, receive feedback, and mentor less experienced designers.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility will be verified.

Nice to have

• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Relevant certifications such as BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, or RCDD.
