Senior Legal Counsel (Media)

Location: London, UK; candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Draft and negotiate agreements for the distribution of entertainment and news channels, direct-to-consumer offerings, and brands across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
• Handle content acquisition, advertising, sponsorship, and marketing-related agreements and provide consumer law advice.
• Act as the primary legal adviser for the International Media Distribution business distributing third-party foreign-language channels into the US.
• Support projects, product launches, and regulatory advice covering copyright, advertising, and compliance.
• Collaborate with specialist intellectual property, litigation, privacy, and employment counsel.
• Supervise and train junior staff when required.

Requirements

• Eligible to work in the UK.
• Approximately six years of post-qualification legal experience or equivalent.
• UK-qualified solicitor or barrister preferred; other jurisdictions may be considered.
• Proven experience leading the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.
• Strong business acumen, stakeholder-management, drafting, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in the media industry and using AI to improve legal-work efficiency.

Nice to have

• Intellectual property or transactional corporate experience in private practice or in-house.
• Experience or interest in international media distribution and related regulatory issues.
