Sr. Software Quality Engineer

Location: Remote within Canada, with availability overlapping Eastern Time hours. Consultant use only.

What you will do

• Define test strategies, scope testing efforts, and review product requirements and engineering specifications during Agile planning.
• Develop and maintain repeatable automated testing solutions and QA test plans based on functional and technical requirements.
• Establish test methodologies and automation practices integrated with parallel software development and DevOps workflows.
• Investigate complex test failures with software engineers, QA specialists, system administrators, and database administrators using SQL queries and server-log analysis.
• Test enterprise software across relevant platforms, including mobile applications, while improving automation coverage, reliability, and overall quality.
• Provide technical leadership, share quality engineering expertise, support junior colleagues, and resolve complex testing challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise software testing or quality engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with test automation and familiarity with manual and automated testing tools and approaches.
• Experience testing mobile software and working in Agile development environments.
• Experience troubleshooting failures across application, database, and test environments, including practical SQL and log-analysis skills.
• Ability to work remotely within Canada and overlap with Eastern Time hours.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud automation and DevOps practices, including Amazon Web Services.
