Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering (DoorDash Air)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; onsite manufacturing and supplier work required

Salary: $231,200–$340,000 USD per year, plus equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end manufacturing processes and equipment, from incoming components through final assembly and functional testing.
• Define tooling, fixtures, work instructions, traceability, and serialization for vehicle production.
• Partner with design engineers on design for manufacturability, cost, yield, and assembly optimization.
• Select and implement a manufacturing execution system.
• Qualify suppliers and contract manufacturers through site visits, audits, and quality improvement programs.
• Hire, mentor, and develop the manufacturing engineering team while owning production metrics and process changes.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on ownership of manufacturing processes and equipment for complex electromechanical products.
• Experience taking products from prototype through high-volume production.
• Experience with electric propulsion and powertrains, plus sufficient electrical fluency to work across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience qualifying and developing suppliers and contract manufacturers and improving quality and yield.
• Ability to simplify assembly, reduce waste and cost, and solve root causes of quality issues.
• Comfort working in an ambiguous, fast-moving startup environment and building capabilities from zero.
