What you will do
- Apply aerodynamic analysis to the design and development of aircraft, missiles, unmanned vehicles, and major aerodynamic components.
- Develop and interpret CFD models, lower-order aerodynamic tools, empirical methods, aerodynamic databases, and structured datasets.
- Analyze lift, drag, stability, control, interference, trim, configuration development, and aerodynamic design across relevant flight regimes.
- Define, support, and interpret wind-tunnel tests and correlate analytical, CFD, wind-tunnel, and flight-test data.
- Support multidisciplinary design trades, aerospace lifecycle reviews, and engineering workflow automation.
- Lead significant aerodynamic work packages and prepare controlled reports, test plans, test reports, and substantiation evidence.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical, applied mathematics, physics, computational engineering, or a related discipline.
- Typically 10 or more years of relevant aerospace or applied fluid-dynamics experience.
- Substantial experience with subsonic, transonic, supersonic, or hypersonic aerodynamics and complete-vehicle or major-component development.
- Practical knowledge of CFD tools, geometry and meshing, post-processing, scripting, automation, CAD, and geometry-management processes.
- Experience assessing mesh sensitivity, convergence, turbulence modeling, numerical uncertainty, and model-form uncertainty.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
Nice to have
- Masterβs degree or PhD in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, aircraft design, experimental aerodynamics, or a related field.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, C/C++, optimization frameworks, and equivalent engineering environments.
