What you will do

  • Lead the development and industrialization of repair schemes for gas turbine engine components.
  • Provide expert guidance on repair methodologies, including TIG/laser welding, brazing, thermal spray, and NDT techniques.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, including work instructions, engineering drawings, and justifications.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to align repair solutions with engine lifecycle requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and trainees in repair processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure all repair solutions meet airworthiness standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical military background.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace gas turbine engine repair, specifically with civil engines.
  • Current or previously held Competent Author (CA) status for repair approvals.
  • Strong knowledge of welding, brazing, thermal spray, and NDT (FPI, MPI, Eddy Current).
  • Familiarity with technical standards including S1000D, STE, EASA Part-145, and FAA regulations.
  • Must be based in or able to work on-site in Derby, UK.

Nice to have

  • Experience with engineering systems such as Teamcenter and SAP.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification for process optimization.
  • Project management skills (APMP, PMP, or Agile).
  • Knowledge of AI and automation toolsets, including Python and Azure Databricks.
