TL;DR
Aerodynamic Engineer (UAV/eVTOL): Designing, simulating, testing, and improving flight physics for autonomous UAV and eVTOL platforms with an accent on aerodynamic analysis, flight dynamics, validation, and Python-based engineering workflows. What you will do
- Design and analyze fixed-wing, multicopter, and eVTOL aerodynamic configurations using XFoil, OpenVSP, AVL, and CFD.
- Support flight-test and wind-tunnel campaigns by defining test cards, instrumenting prototypes, and running experiments.
- Develop Python tooling with NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas to automate analysis and process flight and test data.
- Generate and maintain aerodynamic databases and stability derivatives for GNC control-law development and autopilot tuning.
- Collaborate with Mechanical and GNC teams to keep aerodynamic designs feasible, stable, and testable.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals, stability, and flight dynamics.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing, workflow automation, and engineering-tool integration.
- Hands-on exposure to aerodynamic simulation or physical testing, including CFD, XFoil, OpenVSP, AVL, wind-tunnel testing, flight testing, or prototyping.
- Basic CAD experience with SolidWorks or CATIA and the ability to understand geometry constraints.
- Pragmatic, hands-on approach and comfort working across the full design-to-validation loop.
Nice to have
- French language skills.
- Experience building or flying RC aircraft or drones.
- Propeller design and integration with airframes.
- Aeroacoustics experience.
