Lead QA Engineer, Automation (AI)

Location: Remote, Alberta, Canada

Salary: 95,000–100,000 CAD annually; 110,000–115,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead QA technical strategy, automation architecture, quality standards, and delivery for engineering squads.
• Design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and reusable test components using TypeScript.
• Integrate generative AI into QA workflows for test generation, test data creation, defect triage, documentation, and intelligent maintenance.
• Architect UI visual regression testing with tools such as Applitools, Percy, or Playwright and integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish DORA metric reporting, dashboards, targets, and improvement initiatives across engineering teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, DevOps, SRE, and platform teams while mentoring QA practitioners without direct people management.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development or SDET experience with a strong automation focus.
• Strong TypeScript skills and experience with unit, integration, load, exploratory, API, and non-functional testing.
• Hands-on experience with REST API testing, SQL, BDD/TDD, CI/CD, version control, and application lifecycle management tools.
• Experience testing microservice-oriented and distributed systems, including shift-left and shift-right testing.
• Demonstrated experience applying generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude to QA or software engineering workflows.
• Experience implementing UI visual regression testing and contributing to DORA metrics measurement and improvement.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-powered test generation, intelligent test maintenance, LLM prompt engineering, or agentic IDE practices.
• Security and performance testing experience.
• Experience owning engineering metrics programs.
• Exposure to fitness, wellness, or multi-tenant SaaS products.
