Staff Platform Architect

TL;DR

Staff Platform Architect (TypeScript/Node.js): Shaping the scalable platform architecture behind hirify.global’s execution engine, infrastructure, data systems, and frontend platform with an accent on distributed systems, configurable foundations, and resilient multi-tenant SaaS design. Focus on defining durable execution patterns, evolving persistence and deployment architecture, leading cross-team RFCs, and enabling 80+ engineers across cloud and self-hosted environments.

Location: Remote across Europe; Berlin office and company centre of gravity. Visa sponsorship is available for Germany; candidates working from other countries must already have the right to work there.

What you will do

• Drive coherent architecture across the two Core Platform teams, covering execution, infrastructure, data, and frontend platform systems.
• Design adaptable backend foundations for different workloads, deployment models, product teams, and future scale.
• Evolve durable workflow execution, orchestration, queues, task distribution, worker management, scheduling, and horizontal scaling.
• Shape data and persistence architecture, including database scaling, sharding, migrations, deployment abstractions, and operational maintainability.
• Lead technical decisions through RFCs, design reviews, stable interfaces, and abstractions that enable safer migrations.
• Mentor engineers across teams and improve system design, reliability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience leading architecture across multiple systems or teams, including migrations or foundational platform initiatives.
• Strong TypeScript experience and substantial backend development with Node.js.
• Deep experience designing and operating distributed systems involving asynchronous processing, idempotency, state machines, queues, consistency, and resilience.
• Experience with data-intensive systems, persistence, performance, tenant isolation, migrations, and operational reliability.
• Strong technical leadership through RFCs, design reviews, clear communication, and mentorship.
• English is the company language and is required for collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow engines, orchestration platforms, developer tools, or infrastructure-heavy SaaS products.
• Frontend platform architecture involving canvas applications, plugin systems, real-time communication, web workers, or complex rendering.
• Durable execution, event sourcing, sagas, multi-tenant systems, open-source software, or monolith-to-modular migrations.
• Experience supporting both managed cloud and self-hosted deployments, with strong observability and computer science foundations.
