Salary: $168,000–$231,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead state advocacy and government engagement across Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.
• Develop and execute political engagement and legislative advocacy plans.
• Build relationships with governors’ offices, attorneys general, insurance departments, Medicaid agencies, legislatures, boards, and regulators.
• Advance legislative, regulatory, and public-sector business priorities while supporting procurement opportunities.
• Monitor emerging policy issues, coordinate messaging, and provide timely insights to internal stakeholders.
• Manage external consultants, trade associations, advocacy partners, and broader stakeholder alliances.

Requirements

• Must reside and work from the Austin, Texas area.
• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, communications, health policy, political science, business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in state government, government affairs, campaigns, health policy, or advocacy.
• Hands-on experience developing and executing state-level advocacy strategies, including a strong understanding of the Texas landscape.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• Deep knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, Medicaid programs, and matrixed organizational environments.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Familiarity with Texas Medicaid.
