Hardware Validation Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Oakland, California, United States, with occasional travel to test sites in California, Arizona, and Michigan.

Salary: $139,400–$205,000 USD annually, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Validate next-generation autonomous delivery robot hardware against system requirements.
• Develop and execute test campaigns covering electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, sensing, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Improve robot reliability through rigorous testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Build and maintain test tooling, fixtures, and validation documentation.
• Collaborate with hardware, DevOps, software, firmware, controls, AI, and operations leaders and engineers.
• Lead test reviews and report progress across the validation program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in engineering, robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in system-level automotive or mechatronics testing and validation.
• Hands-on experience with CAN bus and Ethernet data logging and analysis tools.
• Experience with environmental testing, including thermal, shock, and IP testing.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional projects and programs.
• Working knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electronic systems, plus familiarity with autonomous vehicle perception systems.
