Senior/Lead Software Engineer, Network Systems

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Salary: $120,000–$195,000 base pay across Canada, with potential eligibility for bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Design and develop network systems features for switches and routers in collaboration with customers, product managers, and hardware engineers.
• Build and maintain software in C, C++, and Python for controlling sensors, fans, power systems, storage devices, FPGAs, NICs, and PCIe switches.
• Design software abstractions and hardware control interfaces that support driver integration and system performance.
• Work with hardware and manufacturing teams to bring new hardware from design and bring-up through development and market release.
• Build automated tests and test infrastructure, debug issues, and improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership, support customer issue resolution, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS with 8+ years of experience, MS with 6+ years, PhD with 3+ years, or equivalent work experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and applied understanding of software engineering principles.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing hardware device drivers or system management utilities.
• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills, with the ability to independently design and implement solutions.
• Ability to work effectively in small teams.

• Understanding of IP networking or distributed systems.
• Experience working with low-level hardware components.
