Software Engineer/Developer – Contingent

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the United States. Public Trust or Suitability Determination eligibility is required, and occasional travel of less than 10% may be necessary.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and unit test Python/Django backend services, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Build ETL and data transformation workflows for digital content and metadata exchange between enterprise systems.
• Implement secure integrations, authentication, authorization, retries, error handling, transaction logging, and asynchronous processing.
• Develop PostgreSQL data models, queries, migrations, workflow administration, audit logging, and search features with Solr and Elasticsearch.
• Build accessible responsive interfaces with TypeScript, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 in accordance with WCAG 2.1.
• Deploy and maintain services in AWS using Terraform and Docker, and contribute to CI/CD with Jenkins, Git, and quality checks.

Requirements

• U.S. work authorization and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination are required; visa sponsorship is not available.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience on Agile teams and a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Production experience with Python, Django, REST APIs, relational databases, and PostgreSQL.
• Working proficiency in Java and hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience with Solr, Elasticsearch, AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, Git, microservices, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
• Experience with Scrum, JIRA-based user stories, estimation, testing, code reviews, and collaborative remote delivery.

Nice to have

• Federal government, digital asset management, digital collections, ETL, or enterprise data integration experience.
• Celery or comparable distributed task queue experience.
• Section 508, WCAG 2.1, automated testing, Selenium, or SonarQube experience.
• Docker, Red Hat Linux, Apache, Bootstrap, AJAX, Angular, Grafana, or Tableau experience.
• Experience handling CUI or working with NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
