TL;DR
Technical Writer (IT Operations/National Security): Developing and maintaining technical documentation, SOPs, training materials, knowledge articles, reports, and executive briefings supporting IT Call Center services and federal missions with an accent on documentation quality, knowledge management, and stakeholder collaboration. Focus on documenting complex workflows, managing controlled deliverables, incorporating performance metrics and visualizations, and ensuring compliance with customer and federal standards.

Location: On-site in Nashville, Tennessee, United States

Salary: $55,000–$65,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, process guides, training materials, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with program leadership, technical teams, and stakeholders to document workflows, systems, and processes.
  • Prepare and edit status reports, performance reports, executive briefings, transition plans, PMO documentation, and contract deliverables.
  • Maintain program artifacts, templates, style guides, documentation standards, SharePoint repositories, and document libraries.
  • Create user guides, job aids, onboarding materials, and training content to support knowledge transfer.
  • Coordinate document reviews, approvals, version control, quality assurance, and deliverable submissions.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Public Trust is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
  • At least three years of experience in technical writing, documentation, or communications in an IT services, government contracting, or operational environment.
  • Experience producing technical documentation, customer-facing reports, executive briefings, and contract deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, editing, proofreading, quality assurance, organization, and stakeholder collaboration skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Technical writing certification such as CPTC or membership in STC.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Visio, or Adobe products.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, Section 508 accessibility, federal documentation standards, Agile methodologies, and PMO practices.
  • Experience incorporating metrics, dashboards, process diagrams, and data visualizations into reports and briefings.
