Staff Engineer – Distributed Systems – Flag Delivery

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $182,600–$295,350 annually, depending on US geographic pay zone. Additional compensation includes RSUs and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and evolve resilient systems for globally distributed feature flag delivery.
• Own edge delivery, streaming infrastructure, and data synchronization components optimized for high availability and single-digit millisecond regional latency.
• Improve performance, observability, operational excellence, and failure resilience across core services.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, SDK, product, and security teams to deliver secure customer experiences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while setting direction for complex distributed systems initiatives.
• Participate in incident response, post-incident reviews, and the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience architecting, building, and operating large-scale backend and infrastructure services.
• Deep hands-on experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, streaming protocols, and stateful connection management.
• Expertise in Go, Java, Rust, or a similar systems programming language.
• Experience with real-time data pipelines, load balancing, global edge networks or CDNs, and distributed data stores and caching systems.
• Experience operating cloud systems using infrastructure-as-code tools, including environments such as AWS or GCP.
• Strong technical leadership, monitoring and observability experience, and a track record of designing for low-latency, highly available SLOs.
