Senior Thermal Engineer

Location: On-site in Santa Clara, CA, or Roseville, CA; remote applicants must be willing to relocate to a commutable distance.

Salary: $300,000–$655,000 total estimated annual compensation, including base salary, bonus, and equity. Base pay range: $180,000–$275,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop thermal cooling strategies for next-generation, high-performance switching products.
• Perform complete thermal analysis and design using Icepak and related simulation tools.
• Support thermal analysis requests from hardware, product management, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Design and analyze high-power SoC, cold plate, liquid loop, CDU, and rack-level cooling systems.
• Conduct component- and system-level experiments to validate designs and correlate computational results.
• Shape thermal strategy for future products while addressing thermal design issues across projects.

Requirements

• MS degree in Mechanical Engineering; PhD preferred.
• At least 5 years of direct professional experience in thermal design and analysis of electronic equipment.
• Hands-on experience with Icepak, FloTHERM, SmartCFD, or similar tools.
• Experience with high-power SoC liquid-cooling models, cold plates, open- or closed-loop liquid cooling, and CDU design.
• Strong knowledge of CFD, FEA, numerical modeling, heat transfer, electronic cooling, and data-center thermal challenges.
• Experience with thermal and airflow measurements, mechanical validation, qualification testing, and system simulation model correlation.

Nice to have

• Experience with ProEngineer or PTC Creo.
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
