GPS Supplier Quality Engineer (Powertrain)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan, with attendance at the GM Global Technical Center at least three days per week when not traveling to suppliers. What you will do

• Own supplier quality from sourcing and launch through current production and field performance for propulsion components.
• Lead APQP, PPAP, Run@Rate, control plan, PFMEA, MSA, capability study, and supplier certification activities.
• Conduct supplier manufacturing, BIQ/GMS, and quality-system assessments and drive corrective action closure.
• Lead 8D, 5-Why, Red X, DMAIC, SPC, and DOE problem solving for production, warranty, launch, and safety issues.
• Use plant, field, warranty, and customer-quality data to prioritize chronic issues and verify corrective-action effectiveness.
• Mentor SQEs, represent supplier quality in sourcing and executive reviews, and provide cross-functional quality risk recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering, with exposure to powertrain, e-drive, or CCA/Reman components.
• Expertise in APQP, PPAP, Run@Rate, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, capability analysis, and IATF 16949-based quality systems.
• Strong print reading, GD&T, gage design, dimensional strategy, and quantitative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple supplier programs, influence without direct authority, and communicate with suppliers and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future GM immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• GPS Supplier Quality, Plant Quality, or Launch Quality experience in engines, transmissions, e-drive, or CCA/Reman.
• Experience with CS1/CS2, SPPS, and SCMS escalation processes.
• OEM or Tier 1 powertrain or EV propulsion experience.
• ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt, Red X Journeyman, or IATF 16949 auditor certification.
