Lead Cloud Architect - NoSQL Databases (Azure/MongoDB)

Location: Remote position in the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $142,300–$195,700 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Define and maintain enterprise NoSQL standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and best practices.
• Lead architecture and engineering for MongoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, Neo4j, and vector database platforms across Azure and Google Cloud environments.
• Support platform rationalization, modernization, and migrations, including Cosmos DB to MongoDB migration planning and execution.
• Design secure, highly available, scalable, performant, and resilient database solutions covering document, graph, key-value, and vector search workloads.
• Guide application teams on data modeling, partitioning, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, and operational readiness.
• Oversee infrastructure automation, provisioning, monitoring, backup, recovery, lifecycle management, architecture governance, and technical mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, database engineering, DevOps, or related technology roles.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL platforms such as MongoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, Neo4j, vector databases, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform, Python, DevOps practices, CI/CD, source control, automated testing, and operational automation.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform or Ansible, as well as large-scale migrations and modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, security controls, compliance, technical documentation, and architecture governance, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with MongoDB Atlas, enterprise MongoDB deployments, Azure Cosmos DB architecture, or Cosmos DB to MongoDB migrations.
• Experience with Neo4j Aura, Cypher, graph analytics, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation, AI/ML workloads, or recommendation systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, managed database services, enterprise cloud modernization, or regulated industries such as healthcare and insurance.
• Cloud, MongoDB, Neo4j, data engineering, or related NoSQL certifications.
