Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Center Hardware)

Location: On-site in Santa Clara, CA, or Roseville, CA; remote applicants must be willing to relocate to a commutable distance.

Salary: $180,000–$275,000 base annual pay; estimated total annual compensation of $300,000–$655,000 including bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Design mechanical structures and chassis for high-port-density network switches.
• Develop Creo 3D models, manufacturing drawings, critical dimensions, and prototype files.
• Lead peer and cross-functional design reviews and coordinate mechanical solutions across engineering teams.
• Create and manage BOMs, ECOs, deviations, product releases, and engineering changes in PLM tools.
• Support thermal simulations, PCB mechanical integration, DFM reviews, prototype validation, and laboratory debugging.
• Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers to resolve production issues, expedite builds, and sustain released products.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience designing sheet metal and plastic parts for manufactured products.
• Experience with ECO, BOM, deviation, manufacturing, and product release processes.
• Fluent English required.
• Ability to lift more than 50 pounds.
• Must work on-site or relocate to a commutable distance from the Santa Clara or Roseville site.

Nice to have

• Mechanical design experience with computer or network equipment used in data centers.
• Experience with PTC Creo, Creo Simulate, PDMLink, or Windchill.
• Thermal simulation, airflow testing, or liquid cooling experience.
• Hands-on experience with shock, vibration, and EMC testing.
