Executive Loss Control, Property & Marine Specialist (Property & Marine)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; approximately 25% travel required. US work authorization is required, and visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $116,080–$159,610 national average base salary, with a 25% incentive.

What you will do

• Partner with Underwriting, Claims, brokers, and other stakeholders to select, retain, and grow profitable property and marine business.
• Conduct onsite, virtual, and desktop risk assessments for moderate- to high-complexity property, inland marine, and ocean marine accounts.
• Identify exposures and recommend controls, corrective actions, and risk-reduction solutions to customers and underwriting teams.
• Prepare technically detailed risk assessment reports, forms, guidelines, and supporting documentation.
• Provide technical training to team members, underwriters, insureds, and other stakeholders.
• Support vendor quality management, special projects, multiline surveys, and evolving assessment and reporting technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; engineering, risk management, or fire sciences preferred.
• At least 6 years of documented property, inland marine, and ocean marine loss control or risk management experience in retail or wholesale markets.
• Knowledge of property, builders’ risk, contractors’ equipment, motor truck cargo, equipment breakdown, warehouse legal liability, fine arts, and related insurance coverages.
• Experience assessing low- to high-hazard residential, commercial, and industrial occupancies and evaluating fire protection systems.
• Technical proficiency with standards such as NFPA, FM Global, and IBC, plus risk management software and Microsoft Office.
• Recognized certifications such as P.E., CSP, ARM, or CFPS, or willingness to pursue them, are preferred.

• Fine arts risk management experience.
• Experience with boiler and machinery operations, exposures, and controls.
