TL;DR
International Arms Control Treaties and Agreements Analyst (Arms Control/National Security): Supporting Air Force policy, treaty implementation, compliance, inspections, and training for international arms control agreements with an accent on strategic deterrence, nuclear integration, and interagency coordination. Focus on analyzing treaty requirements, preparing senior-leader briefings, developing compliance education, and reviewing acquisition programs for treaty alignment.

Location: Full-time onsite at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, DC; hybrid and remote work are not permitted.

Salary: $82,700–$120,000 USD per year.

What you will do

  • Develop, analyze, and staff Department of the Air Force policy and position statements on treaty-related issues.
  • Assess DAF-wide compliance with arms control agreements and support inspection readiness, exercises, and inspections.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, background materials, and informed recommendations to senior Air Force leadership.
  • Develop and manage treaty compliance education and training materials, including computer-based modules, handbooks, and the official TCO course.
  • Review acquisition and modernization programs for treaty compliance and analyze international proposals affecting Air Force capabilities.
  • Conduct historical research and provide workforce, knowledge management, conference, workshop, and meeting support.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, national security studies, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience.
  • Experience implementing and supporting compliance activities for arms control treaties and agreements.
  • Experience building working relationships across the military Services and interagency organizations.
  • Familiarity with the Air Staff, Joint Staff, and Office of the Secretary of War responsibilities related to treaty requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant international relations, political science, or national security field.
  • Experience briefing SES and General or Flag Officer-level leaders.
  • Knowledge of strategic nuclear doctrine, deterrence theory, and national security strategies.
  • Experience developing policy and strategy for major national or Department of War programs.
  • Familiarity with the Hague Code of Conduct and Ballistic Missile Launch Notification Agreement.
