TL;DR

Senior Electrical Engineer (Nuclear PCB Systems): Building high-reliability, low-noise multilayer PCBs and mixed-signal reactor control systems with an accent on analog front ends, high-speed interfaces, power distribution, and signal integrity. Focus on defining electrical architecture, bringing up and validating hardware, and solving complex EMI/EMC, environmental reliability, and hardware/software integration challenges.

Location: 100% onsite at the El Segundo, California headquarters, United States. Extended hours and weekend work may be required.

Annual salary: $158,000–$172,725, plus equity.

Company

hirify.global is a startup developing portable, factory-built nuclear microreactors for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.

What you will do

  • Own the design and development of multilayer PCBs for reactor control and instrumentation systems.
  • Define mixed-signal electrical architecture, including power distribution, analog front ends, ADC/DAC integration, and digital control interfaces.
  • Design and review high-speed and precision layouts with attention to signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Bring up, debug, and validate hardware using board-level testing and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Create and execute hardware validation and qualification plans for performance, reliability, and environmental conditions.
  • Collaborate with firmware, FPGA, DSP, and systems engineering teams on hardware/software integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing custom multilayer and mixed-signal PCBs.
  • Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium or Cadence.
  • Experience with analog design, sensor interfaces, ADC/DAC integration, low-noise circuits, and high-speed interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, or Ethernet.
  • Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and other laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo and work extended hours or weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear, aerospace, defense, industrial, or other high-reliability and harsh-environment systems.
  • Familiarity with radiation effects and radiation-tolerant electronics.
  • Experience with power electronics, FPGA or embedded systems, nuclear instrumentation, DFM, DFT, or production bring-up.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Culture & Benefits

  • Substantial incentive stock plan for full-time employees.
  • Comprehensive medical, vision, dental, life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter, FSA, and HSA benefits.
  • Flexible PTO and a remote workday allocation alongside the primarily onsite arrangement.
  • Eight weeks of paid parental leave for all parents, with additional paid pregnancy leave for California employees.
  • Catered lunch, snacks, drinks, company events, and an El Segundo headquarters near the Pacific Ocean.
