Research Assistant Tech 1 (Molecular Biology)

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global Hospital Site in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Salary: $4,232.75–$4,642.27 CAD per month.

What you will do

• Support genetic experiments related to membrane contact site biology.
• Organize and handle plasmids, yeast, and E. coli strains.
• Perform plasmid assembly, PCR, agarose gel preparation, and gel electrophoresis.
• Assist with molecular and cell-based assays, including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and fluorescence microscopy.
• Process and analyze experimental results and data under direction.
• Receive laboratory supplies, maintain equipment, and coordinate workflows with lab members.

Requirements

• High school graduation and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to follow established laboratory guidelines and protocols with accurate, reproducible technique.
• Ability to organize duties, communicate effectively, and work independently after a monitored training period.
• Ability to work safely and make sound decisions affecting laboratory operations and research data.
• Commitment to respecting diverse perspectives and developing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Nice to have

• BSc in Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related biological discipline.
• Prior molecular biology laboratory experience and demonstrated troubleshooting ability.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
