Gender Equality Consultant (WASH)

Location: Remote, with the duty station listed as Nairobi, Kenya. The consultancy lasts 15.5 months.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership to integrate gender equality into ASWA and hirify.global WASH programming.
• Generate evidence and produce technical briefs, reports, presentations, learning products, and other knowledge resources.
• Document programme experience, lessons learned, results, and the final ASWA report.
• Develop advocacy messages and represent ASWA at global and regional events and interagency platforms.
• Provide remote technical assistance, quality assurance, coaching, training, and peer learning to hirify.global country offices.
• Support implementation, monitoring, and replication of GALA Action Plans and track knowledge uptake and influence.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, public health, water and sanitation, civil engineering, international development, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in WASH programming, including gender-intentional approaches.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Strong understanding of the global WASH development community, stakeholders, and gender advocacy entry points.
• Experience in knowledge management, evidence generation, technical writing, facilitation, communication, advocacy, and capacity building across multiple regions.
• Ability to provide responsive remote advisory support and maintain structured reporting and results-tracking mechanisms.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of French or another UN language.
• Familiarity with the ASWA Programme and GALA methodology.
• Previous experience with hirify.global or other UN organizations.
