Process Engineering Lead (Battery Assembly): Leading process engineering for high-volume battery module and pack assembly operations with an accent on lean manufacturing, safety, quality, throughput, and equipment performance. Focus on developing engineers and frontline leaders, solving complex production issues, validating process changes, and launching advanced manufacturing equipment.

Location: Onsite in Spring Hill, Tennessee, United States; full-time presence at the plant is required. Travel is expected to be less than 25%. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support. Relocation benefits may be available.

What you will do

  • Lead process engineers and frontline leaders supporting battery module and pack assembly areas.
  • Own SPQRCE performance and drive improvements in productivity, scrap, rework, quality, uptime, and cycle time.
  • Govern PFMEAs, control plans, error-proofing, work instructions, and process-change validation.
  • Partner with production, maintenance, controls, logistics, quality, safety, and engineering teams to improve material flow, staffing, line balancing, and equipment reliability.
  • Provide technical direction for equipment design, construction, integration, installation, launch, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop people, manage performance, coordinate manpower planning, and communicate risks and recovery plans to plant and program leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Significant experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing; battery module or pack assembly experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and development of technical staff.
  • Strong knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, error-proofing, BOP, MARO, and structured problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of RESS and EV safety standards, WSS performance standards, and hazard management for live cells, modules, and packs.
  • Strong analytical, communication, troubleshooting, project-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a changing plant environment.
