Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Manchester, UK, with a hybrid schedule of up to four days working from home; candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Salary: £55,000–£75,000, dependent on experience.

A fast-growing UK PropTech company developing software that helps estate agencies improve property buying, selling, renting, and letting operations.

What you will do

• Own an area of the codebase, scope ambiguous problems, and design scalable solutions.
• Direct parallel AI-assisted development sessions while handling design decisions, reviews, and complex technical problems.
• Contribute to security initiatives, architectural changes, platform upgrades, and shared AI infrastructure.
• Apply product thinking during discovery, challenge requirements, and collaborate with product designers and engineers.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and maintain a high standard of technical quality.
• Work with technical leaders and product designers on scale, maintainability, and alignment.

Requirements

• Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel or a similar MVC framework, with strong MVC fundamentals.
• Experience with Vue 3, React, Angular, or a comparable modern JavaScript framework.
• Production experience with AWS; ECS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and RDS are advantageous.
• Fluent use of AI-native development tools, including Claude Code, plugins, and skills.
• Ability to design systems for scale, anticipate performance and load constraints, and make sound optimisation decisions.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS ECS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, or RDS.
• Experience contributing to security, architecture, or platform transformation initiatives.
